My family attended our first Comic Con last week. We have been planning for this event for the past few months. My husband and I were so excited to meet with some childhood actors from shows we love.
We went on Thursday when it wasn’t all that busy, and got some time to talk with the actors before the massive crowds arrived.
My husband got to meet with Apollo(Richard Hatch) and Starbuck(Dirk Benedict) from the original Battle Star Galactica, along with my favorite Boxy(Noah Hathaway). We also got to meet with Kevin Sorbo, who shared a story about when his daughter was born. These guys were so friendly, and shared so many wonderful fun stories with us. We are already planing for next year’s comic con in Salt Lake City and hope they will come back.
With Apollo and Starbuck
Boxy

Q from Star Trek the Next Generation
I’ve always heard so much about the comic cons, but never really thought much of it. My husband loves anime and has recently talked about going, and I guess that I’ll give it a try. Some people who I’ve known from high school actually travel and try to attend every comic con possible dressed as characters!
You all look like you had so much fun! What a memory-making event for your family to experience!
That is sooooo cool!! I have yet to go to a big comic con. I’ve been to a few smaller ones. We have gone to the Star Wars Convention the past few years and that has been a super awesome experience!!
Thank you, this was the first Comic Con in Utah. The Star Wars Convention sounds like a lot of fun. I really enjoy Star Wars, and am looking forward to the new movies coming out in a few years.
What a cool experience for you and your family!!! Thanks for sharing the memories and photos!
Thank you for visiting my blog. The event was fun, our first time going to a Comic Con. It is something we want to visit again.
Hmm… never thought about these conventions. I’m not much of a comic-con type girl, but I totally appreciate the fact that you are and got to go meet some of your faves! I’ve always thought it would be neat to go to an event like this but for authors. Authors are like my celebrities. 😉
Thank you for visiting. There were a lot of authors there during the weekend. Some I hadn’t met or heard of. We did buy some biographies of the original cast of Battlestar Galactica.
Well now I can say I know someone who went! I’ve kept a secret desire to go too! It looks like a lot of fun and I am amazed you were able to get close to the actors.
What a great time this looks like! I have never been to a comic con fest, but it looks like a blast! Maybe the next time it comes to town we will have to check it out 🙂 Thanks!
woww awesomee!! u met some amazing people ..jealous! 🙂 lovely clicks
That looks like so much fun. I always wanted to go check out one of those events but haven’t had the pleasure, even though I know the guy who organized one in Denver a year or two ago.
Looks like you had a blast! I have a friend who is crazy about comic books. Maybe I’ll pass this post onto him!
Looks like you all had a great time! I’ve never been to Comic Con before, but I think we will try to go once our son is older. How neat to meet the actors from your favorite TV shows!
Fun, fun, fun!
I always hear about these on various podcasts, but never had the opportunity to go myself. I would love to check one out, maybe when munchkin is old enough to appreciate it.
So cool!! I would love to go one day. I’m not sure my girls would enjoy it as much as me. Maybe someday…
It’s always so nice to be able to dive into a world we have not been able to experience first hand. Glad you had so much fun!
I’m not much of comic person either – but from the pics it looks like you’re family had a great time! Right now I’d love to go to some conventions for Bloggers and Writers!
I’ve heard so much about Comic Con, but haven’t had a chance to visit. Thanks for sharing those lovely pictures! Sounds like you and your family had a fun time 🙂
Awesome! I really hope I’ll visit it too someday. 🙂
I’ve never been to a Comic-Con before but it sounds really cool, and looks like you had a lot of fun. This past weekend, we had a Scare-a -Con not too far from here, and I would have loved to have gone and taken pictures with Linda Blair (from the Exorcist) and Tony Todd (from Candyman).
What a beautiful way to build memories! Bravo, for sharing quality time with your family (I know it may sound strange but, it’s not always a priority in today’s world) & thanks for sharing! 🙂
Sounds like fun! Thanks for sharing your pics!
Would love to attend a comic-con! I know my kids would enjoy it. It’s nice to know that they’re down to earth and nice.
I know who all those guys are too! LOL…I used to have a crush on Dirk Benedict.
So fun! I’m a huge Kevin Sorbo fan, so I bet that was awesome. My kids are as into comics and fantasy as my husband and I (they should be, we’re training them to), so I look forward to taking them to a ComicCon someday.
Wow! How fun for you guys and how cool that you have so many pictures! One day your kids will really appreciate that you captured these memorable moments!
How fun – I bet you had a blast. I’ve never been to an event like that, but Indianapolis hosts GenCon every year, and we’ll often go have dinner downtown during the event – love to see the people dressed up in costumes walking down the street!
Too much fun!! I’m happy that you and your family enjoyed.Very nice pictures!
You will always remember your first Con. My first was Dragon Con in Atlanta Ga. Funny thing is I met Kevin Sorbo too. He rocks!! You all seemed like you enjoyed it. They can be so much fun. We try to go to a couple a year. Looking forward to Ohio Comic Con. I can’t wait to meet Stan Lee. =)
Great pictures! I definitely understand the excitement of going to Comic Con. I went for the very first time last year and I totally fangirled over the Firefly cast and Will Wheaton. 🙂 I’m so glad that you and your family enjoyed the experience and hope the next convention is just as fun! 🙂
Looks like you all had a lovely time. I recognize some of those actors so I guess I’m getting a bit old. 🙂
It looks like your family had a lovely day out. I’m not sure why, but I’ve never been to a Comic Con. I bet my Hubby & Son would love it! 🙂
How fun! Looks like a great family activity while using time wisely. Thanks for sharing!
That looks like so much fun. I hear Comic Con gets bigger and better every year. I would have liked to meet John De Lancie. Not because of Star Trek, but because I was a fan of his when he was on Days of Our Lives many, many years ago. My middle name is Dawn! Thanks for sharing. Visiting from Commentathon.
I think my husband and I would really enjoy a comic con. We’re big sci-fi fans. It would be fun to meet some of the actors from our favorite shows! Looks like you and your family had a great time! 🙂
How great that your family was able to go to a comic convention together and meet all your favorite stars! What a neat family activity! You are making great memories for year to come!

My husband is the comic geek of the two of us but I can’t say that I don’t enjoy at least watching the occasional Superman or Batman animated series right along with him. He’s wanted to attend a Comic Con here in NY for the past few years but things always come up. I’d accompany him just to see all the cosplay! 😉 Looks like lots of fun!
What an experience!! I’m sure it was a special and memorable time for you!
